Two Dead, More Than 100 Injured In Boston

UPDATE 9:05 p.m. - The death toll has increased to 3 people. 138 or more are injured with reports of several amputations.


The annual Boston Marathon took place this Monday morning in Massachusetts. The marathon was interrupted around 2:50 p.m., as a elite field of runners were nearing the finish line, two bombs ripped through the crowds of spectators. Video from the finish line shows a period of about 20 seconds between the two blasts. The explosion killed two and injured more and 100 others. Boston Police Department reported that one of the 2 people that were killed, including an 8-year old boy. Local hospitals reported over 100 were being treated at various facilities. 

Boston citizens are currently urged to stay at home and away from large crowds. As a precaution, the FAA has restricted airspace over Boston, and issued a ground stop of Boston's Logan International Airport. Bombs squads have searched the area around the bomb site. Numerous suspicious packages or bags were discovered. Two additional explosive devices were dismantled. The FBI is officially treating the bombing as a terrorist investigation.
