The NBA team formally known as the Hornets announced today they will officially be known as the New Orleans Pelicans. The once endangered bird is Louisiana's state bird. Owner Tom Benson released a statement saying, "The Pelican is a symbol for our city and region, we're excited to started a new era in Louisiana basketball history."
