January 11, 2013 Kendrick Johnson, a 17-teen year old south Georgia high school student was founded dead at Lowndes High School. Lowndes County sheriff's officials reported, Johnson died after apparently climbing atop an upright roll of wrestling mats, fell into a center opening and became trapped inside. An autopsy and investigation by the sheriff's officials and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation found no signs of a struggle and no foul play is suspected. Sheriff Chris Prine of Lowndes County Sheriff's Department suggested that Johnson was possibly reaching for a shoe that had fallen into the mat when he fall. The student was upside down in the mat for hours, with blood rushing to his head and upper extremities, causing him to pass out, the sheriff said.
The family don't think Johnson's death was an accident, instead believe their relative was murdered. Three months after the teenager's death, his family is still demanding answers. As they deal with the untimely death of their love one, they still await the final autopsy report from the GBI Crime Lab. The GBI's preliminary report shows no sign of injury but the final report still hasn't been completed.
What I think...
The above photo features images of Johnson before his death and two days after his body was found. These images don't say accidental death. His body appears to be swollen and badly disfigured. In addition, the photo to the left shows Kendrick Johnson's father demonstrating the difficulty of a body getting into the wrestling mats where Kendrick's body was supposedly found. The delay in final autopsy of Johnson's death also raises further suspicion. Something seems a bit fishy. I hope that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation speed up the process of the cases. As more evident becomes available in this case I pray the family get justice and find comfort after this tragic and untimely death of this young man.
