Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg describes Facebook Home as "a family of apps" that essentially push Facebook content front and center on your Android phone. This allows you to interact with Facebook friends instantly. A stream of post and photos, upfront notifications, quick access and ability to "like" or post comments without opening the Facebook app is made available.
One of the newest features included in Home is "Chat Heads", a tool that combines Facebook Messenger with your phone's regular text messaging. When you receive a Facebook message, a circular frame with a profile picture appears, simply tap on the Chat Head photo to interact with contact. Facebook Home allows you to make Facebook Messenger your default SMS/MMS client. Since the Chat Head run on top of other apps, you can keep chatting with friends, even when you're using other apps.
As for right now, iPhone users are out of luck. The iOS system that Apple iPhone runs makes it almost impossible to develop a platform like Home without a partner with Apple developers. Facebook Home is optimized for Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II and some HTC phones. It will be pre-installed on the Samsun Galaxy S IIII and the HTC One upon there release this year. Home will also become available for some tablets in the near future.
